10 Cleaning Hacks to Save Time & Money

We all spend too much time  and effort cleaning and not enough time enjoying our clean houses. The cleaning products out there today are expensive, time consuming and sometimes toxic. What if there were ways to do the most monotonous chores quickly, inexpensively and naturally? We have found 10 smart cleaning hacks that will make your day!

  1. Are you stuck with water spots on your dishes even with your expensive rinse agent? Use vinegar instead! White vinegar will remove the film within a couple of washes.
  2. Clean your kids’ plastic toys in the dishwasher once a month or after sicknesses. Never mind scrubbing – let your dishwasher do the work.
  3. Clean your shower while you’re in the shower. When you’re done washing up, spray the shower walls with a homemade mixture of vinegar, water and lemon, then wipe down with a towel.
  4. Place some extra garbage bags at the bottom of your garbage can for a quick change.
  5. Let your toilet brush drip dry by placing it on the toilet rim over the bowl. Pin it down with the lid and continue cleaning the bathroom. By the time you’re done it will be dry and ready to be put away.
  6. Tired of that scummy showerhead? Fill a plastic sandwich baggie with vinegar and attach it over the showerhead with an elastic band. Leave it overnight and wipe that soap scum away.
  7. Get rid of dust in a snap. Use a handy lint roller to get rid of dust on fabric lamp shades.
  8. Buy a rubber brush or a squeegee to get rid of pet hair on the sofa and carpet in a flash. Jut pass it over the area a few times and discard the ball of hair/fur.
  9. Fill a bowl with white vinegar, water and lemon (if desired) and heat until the water is boiling. Let steam for 1 minute in microwave and then remove and wipe down all of the previously stuck on bits of food and debris.
  10. If you’re in between carpet cleanings, sprinkle some baking soda on your carpets, leave on for about 10-15 minutes and vacuum up for a refreshed floor.
