BBQ season is upon us! After a long winter, it is finally time to get back to the BBQ and do some grilling. The summer months are far too short, and we want to make the most of our BBQs while we have them out, but grilling up the same things every day can get a little dull. Here are five great recipes that will keep you loving your BBQ all summer long, whether you are grilling for just yourself or for your friends too.
- Honey Chicken Kabobs
Looking for something a little lighter to put on the grill? How about chicken and veggies with a yummy honey glaze? Try grilling up some honey chicken kabobs to really make an impression at your next BBQ. Simply whisk together oil, honey, soy sauce, and pepper, then place your chicken, garlic, onions, and peppers in to marinade for at least two hours in the fridge—but make sure you set a little of the marinade aside to brush onto your kabobs while cooking them. Drain and discard your marinade, skewer your chicken and veggies in the order you like best, and grill for 12 to 15 minutes until the chicken juices run clear. Make sure you turn and brush your skewers with marinade frequently for the best results.
- Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops
Looking for a delicious alternative to the standard pork chop? Try throwing some brown sugar pork chops on the grill. All you need to do is bring brown sugar, apple juice, oil, soy sauce, ginger, salt, and pepper to a boil in a small saucepan. Whisk in a mixture of cornstarch and water and stir until your sauce is thick. Brush your pork chops just before you take them off the grill, and remember to serve a little of the leftover sauce on the side.
- Grilled Zucchini Pizza
Anyone for some grilled pizza? Slice up some zucchini into thick, round slices, and lay them on the grill for approximately three minutes per slice—but wait until your BBQ coals have almost burned down. Turn each slice over and brush a mixture of melted butter and crushed garlic on each slice; cook another three minutes, flip, and apply your glaze to the other side. Toss on some pizza sauce, cheese, any other toppings you like, and let cook until the cheese starts to melt.
- Grilled Potatoes
Looking for an alternative to buttered potatoes? Try grilling up your own seasoned potatoes instead. Bring large, quartered potatoes to a boil and cook in a large pot of water until tender, then drain, toss with olive oil, black pepper, rosemary, and salt before placing skin-side down on the grill for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining olive oil mixture before serving.

For dessert, try grilling up some grilled pineapple butterscotch sundaes. Dissolve butter, white sugar, and nutmeg in a saucepan over medium heat. Brush onto pineapple spears, then grill, turning occasionally, until lightly browned. Serve with ice cream and top with cream sauce made from butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt.
